Story

Yesterday our community was shaken by a frightening accident involving one of our much-loved local postmen.

While carrying out his usual round — something he’s done for so many of us day in, day out — he was tragically run over by his own post van. He has suffered fractured ribs, a punctured lung, and multiple cuts and bruises. Thankfully, he is now receiving medical care, but he has a long and painful recovery ahead.

Anyone who knows him will tell you he’s more than “just the postie” — he’s a familiar face, a friendly smile, and someone who shows up in all weathers to keep our community connected. Now it’s our turn to show up for him.

In the chaos of the incident, something truly remarkable also happened. Three individuals in nearby vehicles put themselves in danger to stop the post van from rolling backwards and potentially causing even more serious injuries or damage. Their quick thinking and bravery may well have prevented a far worse outcome.

This fundraiser has been set up to:

• 💌 Support our injured postman during his recovery, helping to ease the financial and emotional strain while he heals

• 🌟 Show appreciation to the three people who acted selflessly and bravely in a moment of real danger

Every donation, no matter how small, is a way of saying thank you, we’re thinking of you, and you’re not alone.

If you’re unable to donate, please consider sharing this page. Let’s come together as a community and look after our own — just as they look after us every day.

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts
