Story
NICOLAS CHAGRIN
Nicolas was a truly unique person with a true and loving heart. He had amazing ability to be completely present in the given moment, and it was his greatest gift.
We will feel his loving presence with us forever.
His was most the extraordinary life. The kind of life that you'd expect from someone with such magnetism and a true passion for creative expression.
His enthusiasm and eternal warmth were contagious to all around him.
A few family, friends and colleagues have asked us how it would be possible to support us so we've created this page.
Nicolas wanted a natural burial.
He loved the idea of returning to nature and being laid to rest in a woodland.
So we are planting a Silver Birch at Ham Down Woodland Burial Ground, a beautiful woodland in Dorset, close to our home.
The Silver Birch tree is a symbol of new beginnings, and hope. We think he would have liked that.
Everyone would be welcome to visit the woodland, at anytime of year, to enjoy the beautiful views there.
It is even possible to camp in the nearby field in the summer.
Following the ceremony at Ham Down, we will have a warm gathering of friends and family to celebrate Nicolas' vibrant life at Springhead Trust.
Thank you for your support,

“ I pass forth into the light,
I find myself beneath a weeping Birch
(most beautiful of forest trees,
The Lady of the woods)"
From The Lover’s Resolution, Samuel Taylor Coleridge
