Story

Harry was diagnosed with a chromosome 6 deletion at age 2. The deletion means he was born with spinal musculoskeletal deformities including Scoliosis as the main problem that have made his young life a battle. He is such a strong little boy who has fought hard not to let his difficulties get the best of him or hold him back.
Harry has used a walker to help him learn to walk since he was 3 but after his 1st Scoliosis surgery aged 4 walking any distance can become tiring or painful very quickly.

Harry is nearly 8 and since having his 1st spinal surgery for Scoliosis and Spinal Cord Detethered in June 2016 his mobility needs have changed and further emergency surgeries in June 2017 and August 2018 he is struggling more.

Northampton Wheelchair services deemed him not disabled enough to gain a wheelchair for help and we had to privately fund this.

Harry has been in Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital since August. Spending 6 weeks in halo tibial traction. Only being able to lay flat on a specialist bed frame to turn front to back. His rare and possibly ground breaking surgery was performed by HRH Princess Eugenie's Scoliosis surgeon, Mr Jan Lehovsky. Mr Lehovsky performed a further 2 surgeries since coming off traction to help give Harry stronger foundations to grow and he is near to going home. He has been at RNOH for almost 3 months. His mobility needs are now much greater than ever before. We need to find him a lay flat wheelchair due to a special cast he needs to wear so his body and bone graft can heal. He will spend many more months being house bound. Unable to even go see Father Christmas in the build up to christmas!

Going forward Harry will need extensive daily Physiotherapy, input from a private Occupational Therapist and Conductive Education Specialists. Which we will have to fund ourselves. He needs to learn to walk all over again. Something that did not come easily the 1st time around.

Help Harry go far! Further than he's ever had to go before!
