Story

Phyllis Philomena Mary Christina, one in a million - or one in 18,000? Like many others we have lost our Nan and Mum who resided at Trinity Lodge care home and unfortunately lost her fight to corona virus. Phyllis battled COVID-19 for six weeks, having initially been admitted to hospital for treatment of pneumonia. COVID not only attacked Phyllis's lungs but also her dementia. Fortunately, Nan returned to Trinity Lodge and passed away there on 10 May 2020, surrounded by familiar faces.

Money raised will go directly to help create a Memorial Tribute in the garden of Trinity Lodge to remember, not only Phyllis, but other friends and residents who have lost their lives to corona virus, and to the Trinity Team who have served during the COVID outbreak. Making this special place is our way to remember and say a huge thank you to all the incredible staff who have dedicated their lives and had to make personal sacrifices to make sure that the residents are well cared for and importantly loved during a time when it is instinct to care for yourself and your own. Although this has been a difficult time, the one comforting thing was seeing how genuinely loved and looked after Phyllis was by all the staff at Trinity Lodge and demonstrate that caring is a skilled vocation.

She has left a huge hole in our hearts, but our memories are full of joy and tears of laughter as she was quite a character, leaving us with many happy memories!

Please help us recognise the important work that carers do and honour everyone who has lost their lives to COVID in a care home during this pandemic.
