Weʼve raised £255 to provide Sunday buses in Nidderdale

    Story

The 24 bus service provides an important link between Harrogate and Pateley Bridge for local residents and visitors to Nidderdale Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. However, the Sunday service is no longer commercially viable during the winter months.

We're raising money alongside Nidderdale Plus, a local registered charity, to enable the Sunday bus service to continue operating during the winter months. This will allow buses to continue to run along Nidderdale seven days a week all year round. The 24 bus service runs between Harrogate, Killinghall, Hampsthwaite, Birstwith, Darley, Summerbridge and Pateley Bridge (recently awarded the title of "Britain’s Best Village High Street").

We've already had pledges of support of £2,000, but still need around another £4,000 to make sure we can keep the wheels turning for the next two years.

This project is being managed by the Dales and Bowland Community Interest Company in conjunction with Nidderdale Plus, Nidderdale Chamber of Trade and the Harrogate Bus Company.

Our aim is to open up Nidderdale to visitors from outside the area, by providing better timed services to connect with other buses at Harrogate Bus Station, whilst providing valuable connections for local residents allowing, for example, plenty of time for shopping in Harrogate.

We will be working with the bus company to help promote the service, and our friends at DalesBus Ramblers will be providing a programme of free guided walks from the bus.

The usual range of Harrogate Bus Company tickets will be valid, including Daytripper tickets allowing journeys to/from Leeds on the 36 bus service, with free travel for holders of elderly or disabled bus passes.

To help us keep Nidderdale accessible to all please donate now, using the button at the top of the page.

If you'd like to make a larger donation using Gift Aid please contact Nidderdale Plus, and if you're interested in providing corporate sponsorship please contact Nidderdale Chamber of Trade.

      Update from the Page owner

Thank you to everyone for your support. As a result of donations to this page, combined with other donations from Harrogate Water Brands, North Yorkshire County Council, Pateley Bridge Town Council and Nidderdale Chamber of Trade, the 24 bus will continue running on Winter Sundays for at least the next two years. This means Nidderdale will continue to have a daily bus service all year round. For more details please see www.dalesbus.org Thanks again!

The 24 is vital for getting to Pateley Bridge from Ripon. We have to connect at Killinghall. There is no other way for some of us. Please try to keep it going.

Fundraising is hard work, but the benefits of this bus service are definitely worth the effort. Good luck!

Good luck with this campaign. The bus service is great for walkers and other tourists. It is important environmentally that we try to reduce the number of cars driving up to Pateley.
