Weʼve raised £2,239 to Maintain the work and ambition of the Preshal Trust

    Glasgow, UK
Funded on Friday, 30th November 2018

    What is crowdfunding?

Crowdfunding is a new type of fundraising where you can raise funds for your own personal cause, even if you're not a registered nonprofit.

The page owner is responsible for the distribution of funds raised.

The Preshal Trust is a registered charity based in Govan, an area of Glasgow of economic and social deprivation with high unemployment, low educational attainment, poor health and serious poverty levels. ‘Preshal’ is the Gaelic for precious - and this is one of the key values that describes the care and support given to all people who access the services of the Preshal Trust. They aim to provide support and to deliver a range of services to socially excluded people and families living in the Govan area of Glasgow.

The Preshal Trust run a diverse outreach programme which supports: families, education, specialist support, food provision on a daily basis for the community of Govan. They run weekly craft activities, musical and photography classes, children's clubs, cookery classes, literacy and IT classes and entertainment. They run the South West Area Foodbank every Thursday. They also have a caravan in Saltcoats, which provides families with the opportunity to spend time together away from the distress of poverty at home.

Through encouraging the people to socialise and build relationships, the Preshal Trust make a distinctive contribution to the welfare of the people of Govan through the compassionate service and supportive care they give to everyone who walks through the door.

Having seen the impact the Preshal Trust has on the people of Govan and the passion the charity has to help those in poverty, we decided that we would use the beautiful Isle of Arran to challenge local cyclists and raise money for this excellent cause. Cycling around Arran is 56 miles of undulating terrain and a challenge to any amateur cyclist, especially with the variances of the Scottish weather.

PLEASE DONATE to make the challenge worthwhile and to help the Preshal Trust in aiding those living in poverty in Govan.

Thank you all for your support. We have raised over £2500 for the Preshal Trust and that goes a long way to supporting events and activities; something that will really make a difference to the lives of people using this day centre. Thank you again. Picture complete with Asda medals- Asda and Endura were great sponsors!
