Story
Paula, Nigel and Fiona are raising money to support recovery from brain injury in Devon, working with Headway Devon and Say Aphasia Exeter. Both of these amazing charities have been a lifeline since Nigel had his first stroke 7 years ago.
Without the support and friendships of the groups run by these charities, both Paula and Nigel feel they would have struggled to make it through such a difficult time.
Through their two favourite groups Nigel has sung and performed in various settings. Singing can reconnect stroke survivors with speech again. Something all the group members have witnessed first-hand.
Nigel and Paula have made friends with others who have suffered similar problems. The focus of the groups that help us is Aphasia, it's affected everyone but in different ways. Some cannot speak at all, others have great difficulty in finding words and those like Nigel find reading incredibly hard. Something he used to love.
The funds being raised by Paula and Nigel will go to Say Aphasias drop in group and Headways "Moving Tribe" music, art therapy group. For many brain injury survivors and their carers these groups are the highlight of the week and something very much to look forward to.
