🏔 Team NRDS: Climbing Snowdon for Nina & Shooting Star Ward 💜
On the 26th October, a team of 19 instructors and staff from Nigel Richards Driving School (NRDS) will be climbing Snowdon to raise vital funds for Shooting Star Ward at Wrexham Maelor Hospital — and to support our amazing friend and colleague, Nina, as she bravely fights a rare form of cancer.
💪 Nina’s Story: A Fighter, A Teacher, A Friend
Nina isn’t just part of our team — she’s part of the heartbeat of NRDS. A passionate, skilled, and much-loved driving instructor, Nina was known for lighting up every lesson with energy and care. But earlier this year, everything changed.
She was diagnosed with Pseudomyxoma Peritonei (PMP) – an incredibly rare form of cancer that affects just 2 in every million people.
Despite this devastating diagnosis, Nina has shown unbelievable courage and strength. She’s had to step away from teaching manual lessons — something she absolutely loved — but her fighting spirit hasn’t stopped. Her journey is far from over, but if anyone can do this, it’s Nina.
🧗♂ Why 19 of Us Are Taking on Snowdon
We’re not doing this alone — it’s a full team effort. 19 of us, from instructors to staff, are stepping up (literally!) to take on this climb. We’re doing it to:
Support Nina and her family during this incredibly tough time.
Raise funds for the incredible Shooting Star Ward, whose staff have been a lifeline throughout Nina’s treatment.
They’ve gone above and beyond — and now it’s our turn to do the same.
💝 How You Can Help
Whether it’s £2 or £200, your donation will be split 50/50 between:
Nina and her family, to help ease the financial pressures of her ongoing treatment.
Shooting Star Ward, to support other families who need the same outstanding care Nina has received.
Every single donation counts. Every step up that mountain will be powered by your support and Nina’s strength.
🧡 Nina, We’re With You
We believe in Nina. We believe in her strength. And we know this isn’t the end of her story — it’s just the toughest chapter yet. One day, we hope to see her back doing what she loves: teaching, laughing, and guiding her pupils toward independence.
Until then, Team NRDS climbs — together — for Nina and for every family on that ward.
