Nihat’s parents, Sıdıka and Ahmet Polat and Dilan's parents, Devlet and Emin Izci, are homeless as the homes where they live have been made unsafe by the earthquake. Most of their wider family members live in the city, but Nihat's family live in a nearby village. All have had to vacate their homes and find temporary shelter mainly in tents in freezing conditions.

Dilan's Uncle and Aunt sadly died in their destroyed apartment block in the city. 30 other more distant relations have died in the tragedy.

20-25 immediate family members have been made homeless.

They are planning to travel to Turkey to help their family as soon as they hear the travel routes within Turkey are open.

Of the funds raised here from the Petworth community they would like half to go to restoring some normality to their immesiate families.'The other half of the funds raised they would like to go to AFAD

Having spoken to Nihat, he feels the best way to help, would be if we could donate money. He would appreciate half of the money going to his family but he would also really appreciate giving half to the charity AFDAS.

Anything helps, Nihat would very much appreciate anything and has been very humbled by everyone's offers of help.
