Story
For almost the entirety of my adult life I have worked tirelessly raising money for many of the well known charities based in the UK, I love the challenge and I love being able to give something back.
This May I was turned down for the London Marathon 2018 on the grounds that I have Cerebral Palsy and I use a wheelchair. I am unable to self-propel over large distances and rely for the most part on a powered wheelchair. Both of these (along with other factors like the fact that I am not a registered paralympian) make participation impossible. I then set about seeing what else I could find. I came across the Palace to Palace bike ride in aid of THE PRINCE’S TRUST.
I have spoken to various people and I have been accepted for the 45 mile course in October 2018 using a hand cycle that attaches to the front of a manual wheelchair and I would need to train like nothing else but I would need a new chair (c.£300) and the hand cycle (that ranges from £700 second hand to £3,200 new). The untold amount of personal independence I would also glean from this venture is also unreal but in order to get this off the ground, I am going to have to ask for a little help on this occasion please.
