Story

My name is Nikki Brookes and on the 11th of May 2025, I'll be donning my trainers and running the Exeter Marathon to raise money for Dogs 4 Wildlife who breed and train specialist Conservation dogs to be deployed from South Wales to Southern Africa in the fight against wildlife crime.

Born in Zimbabwe and raised by 2 generations of devoted wildlife enthusiasts, I’m extremely passionate about the African bush and all its inhabitants. Having lived in the UK for almost 20 years, I feel utterly helpless watching the plight of wildlife from afar. I always wish there was something I could do that would help to make a difference...

Rather late than never, my time has come to stand up and do my bit, and I couldn’t think of a better cause to raise money for.

Dogs 4 Wildlife is an incredible not-for-profit organisation. They breed and train dogs in Carmarthenshire for deployment across Sub Saharan Africa in the fight against wildlife crime and rhino poaching.

There is a poaching epidemic across Southern Africa, and these amazing dogs are vital when it comes to the protection of wildlife. Over 15 dogs have been deployed to date, contributing to the reduction of poaching by as much as 75%, and thus playing a vital role in the conservation of endangered wildlife.

Please donate if you possibly can. Let’s help get more dogs trained up to fulfil their destinies of becoming wildlife warriors.
