Another week in Ukraine done, it gets harder to leave every time.

Over 1000 miles travelled delivering aid, meeting and working with so many inspirational people – plus the amazing opportunity to be interviewed by a Ukrainian news channel!

From a centre with incredible Ukrainian volunteers, many of them refugees from the East, making camo nets, military first aid kits, ration packs and humanitarian aid packages for civilians.

To stories of war crimes that make you sick to the stomach, videos of shelling, missiles, the conditions in aid raid shelters that people now call home. Liberated towns, such as Bucha, Irpin, Borodyanka still have a long way to go to rebuild their city. As in all of Ukraine the feelings here are of hope, people still live here and have even come back, but equally your footsteps echo off destroyed tanks, vehicles and buildings with the thought that the exact same war crimes are happening in other occupied regions.

I visited a hospital in central Ukraine that can care for around 750 people, at the moment, it's near full with victims of this war. I met injured soldiers, some who are lucky to be alive and some who laugh and joke and can’t wait to get back to the front line. Civilians who are just happy to be alive, despite horrific injuries – children and babies with shrapnel wounds, 80% burns and broken bones. Thank you to everyone who donated to my fundraiser, it was amazing to be able to present a huge amount of medical supplies, which contributed to the burns department, trauma, neurosurgery and intensive care. In total, around £400 of your donations were spent, which equates to around 15,000 Hryvnia, to put that in context, the average monthly wage in this region is 8000!

I am continuing to fundraise, to make as big an impact as I can on my next trip. Working with an amazing charity Nishkam SWAT in Bucha, to set up a soup kitchen and providing military grade first aid and civilian supplies to 'Захист - об'єднання волонтерів' an incredible organisation who provide aid to direct to the front line.
