Story
In January, this year, an 8 year old girl, Asifa Bano was raped and killed in Kathua. She belonged to the Gujjar tribe. Her body was found 6 days after she went missing, in a temple, ironically owned by one of the rapists. The charge sheet clearly voices out the intent of the rape and murder of the minor, who unfortunately became a victim of communal violence. Involved in this crime, are men of different ages, from a 60 year old retired government official to a juvenile, who continue to walk freely, supported in numbers and by way of protests of staunch political party supporters. Their power gave them the right to not allow Asifa a burial in her own village, leading to her parents walking many kilometres to give her a respectful burial. Her parents had already been grieving the loss of three other siblings of Asifa, who lost their lives in a road accident, not long before Asifa was found raped and murdered
