My mother grew up in Malaysia so this project is something I hold close to my heart, I want to be able to make a postitive impact and give back to the communities in Borneo!

It is a 4 week project in the Summer in 2018 with campsinternational.com and I will be helping to build kindergartens in two villages called Bongkud and Tinangol.

Currently, the few kindergartens they have are cluttered and there just isn't enough space for everyone. And education is so important, the children deserve to get as much support as they need from a teacher - which can't happen if there's not enough space to accommodate everyone.

I will be getting involved in activities such as digging foundations, laying bricks, making classroom furniture, installing water storage tanks!

There's also an element of conserving the local wildlife by safeguarding rainforests
through seed collecting and tree planting. Conservation is so important as more than a quarter of modern medicinal drugs are derived from plants found in rainforests, and more are still being found. I feel like people don't care enough about the environment, but there could be a HIV or cancer cure you're passing up by letting these plants become extinct due to deforestation.

I want to give my 100% for the communities we'll be helping and the jungles we'll help conserve. For some of the trip I will be sleeping in a hammock and cooking over an open fire - no toilet or washing facilities - bear grylls style, so majority of the money goes towards the materials to build the kindergartens. If you could donate even a little it would mean the world to me!!!
It's a big volunteering project and I'm doing my best to fundraise in different ways. My family don't have a lot of money, but I won't let that stop me from doing what I can to give to others.
