I've raised £1500 to volunteer for 3 weeks to provide childcare and teach in highly understaffed schools in Arusha, Tanzania.

Hi everyone, I have decided to travel to Tanzania on the 14th of September to volunteer to provide teaching/childcare to schools in Arusha. I’ll be spending 3 weeks in Tanzanian daycares helping to care and teach for children whose parents may rely on free childcare to have the time to work and provide for their families.
Growing up, I was inspired seeing my mum make a huge difference to the lives of visually impaired children here in the UK throughout her career, as a result I’ve always wanted a taste of the fufillment she always came home with. Travelling to Tanzania has also been a dream of mine so I thought this would be a great way to make a difference in a beautiful place that truly needs it :
“It is estimated that around 1.4 million Tanzanians are infected with HIV. Furthermore, for every 1,000 births, almost 6 women die in childbirth. These factors along with general widespread poverty and minimal state welfare have resulted in an alarmingly high level of families lacking adequate childcare and education in Tanzania.“
The ratio of teachers to pupils can be as low as 1 Teacher to 60 students… I will be providing childcare and teaching in Arusha through a PMGY program ; a registered charity that conducts numerous projects across the world for childcare, education, wildlife conservation and medical care. (Their website if you wanted to do something similar : https://www.planmygapyear.co.uk/about-us/)
The funds we raise will go toward the program and directly to the charity and schools I‘ll be volunteering in!
