I've raised £4500 to help provide water pipes and installation to a village of 1,080 people and 4000 cattle near Mount Kenya.

Dear Friends,
In 2022, my daughters and I traveled to East Africa for the very first time together. We went to Kenya. I can not explain to you the impact this had on our lives. It is a country that is more beautiful than I could ever have imagined. The unity amongst its people, the skyline of Mount Kenya and the beaches of Kilifi shares an unspoken beauty that can only be experienced to know its true meaning.
I never felt more safe and at home, as I did in Kenya. This experience left me imagining a life without Kenya and that vision was too impossible for me to bear, so I set out on a task to build a second life in Laikipia. A region rich in wildlife, local Masai and the sacred blue pools of Ndare Forest and the hills of Mt Kenya.
While sourcing water for my land, I learned that the local community in Chumvi, which is near my land, has no water for their village. While I am able to build a borehole and immediately bring in water to fill my tanks via a nearby neighbour, the local community does not have access to those same means.
The government has created a Community Water Scheme that provides access to water from Mount Kenya into these rural villages, but the community has to raise enough funds to buy and install the piping work. The cost to install and buy the water pipes for this community, is only £4,500 GBP. For just under £5,000 GBP, a community of 1,080 people, 4,000 cattle will have access to clean water that runs through their village and directly into their homes.
Please note, this village did not ask for help. They have found a way to survive under their current conditions, but I want to help. And if that is all one can do in life … then it is a life well spent.
I am happy to share in the rebirth of this local village on the hills of Mount Kenya with you and welcome each and every one of you to visit Kenya and see how your life changing gift has created an unexpected miracle for the community of Enkusero, Chumvi, Mount Kenya.
Please donate whatever you can. For more detailed information on the water project, please email rose@kalanchoeranch.com.
Warmest Wishes,
Rose, George, Verity and Georgiana Hulse
