Story
The Band of Her Majesty's Royal Marines Band Collingwood are going to be doing the HMS Collingwood 500 mile challenge. The aim of this challenge is to complete 500 miles by either running, cycling, swimming, rowing or using a cross trainer between the 18 April 2017 - 31 July 2017.
The team from the band are raising funds on behalf of the National Museum of the Royal Navy in aid of the Seamore Appeal.
The SeaMore appeal will facilitate the re-location of the Royal Marines Museum into Portsmouth Historic Dockyard, which will allow us to develop dynamic new galleries, offer physical activities and demonstrate personal stories of heroism. Bringing you closer to the ethos of the Royal Marines.
This is also in support of our new Centre for Discovery, bringing together over 2,500,000 individually archived items, across 30 separate stores, to create the newest national collection.
SeaMore will enable visitors to discover, explore, research and share within this unique collection. Allowing you to get up close and personal with the story of the Royal Navy
