What We do?
We organise fundraising activities and events mainly in Portsmouth. The aims are to encourage and involve Portsmouth’s local communities in sport programmes, social events and community activities while promoting local businesses, other small charities/non-profit organisations, independent artists and people with diverse skills while tackling issues such as cultural barriers and isolation in Portsmouth. These enables the organisation to also tackle challenges In Zambia.
Why We do it ?
Children are at the heart of Noah Mapalo Help Centre. According to the World Health Organization, about 2 million people in Zambia have disabilities; more than 15 % of the population live in rural area where access to basic service is very limited such as public buildings, health care and education.
Our cause is to help children in Baluba (Zambia) to improve their everyday living conditions by providing unique children with their needs and help them with emotional support. Finishing the community school would make a huge difference to the village.
About the community school
Last year, we have gotten closer to our target but we are in need of £2000 which will help to complete the unfinished roof top, secured windows and doors, replace broken tables/chairs and pay and empower the builders for their work.
Beside education , the school will improve families' lives and would also enable the local community to use it for skills enhancement workshops and a medical centre; a current project which NMHC wants to achieve by the end of June 2018 which is the winter season in Zambia.
The building is still under construction and children may have to sit in the unfinished building during the cold and rainy season.
All the fund raised is fully accounted for by our treasurers and will be solely used to pay for all the necessary materials and builders to complete the community school. We thank you for your support.
