Story

Are you clapping for carers? Every Thursday many of us are putting our hands together to say thank you to dedicated health professionals in the current health emergency. Every day they – and indeed all carers- go above and beyond to provide care and compassion in the most challenging circumstances for people with Covid-19.

Wouldn’t it be nice to do something practical to show we care about the carers?

We’ve learnt from an NHS consultant that chapped hands is an issue for carers in homes for the elderly and vulnerable who are washing their hands so often. This is where we can help.

They need hand cream.

Simple.

£3 to £6.00 (appx) buys a pot/tube of hand cream.

We would prefer you to pop a tube/jar/tub of hand cream into your shopping basket during your weekly shop and then drop it around to us during your daily walk/run cycle, however we understand that this is not possible for everyone and so we have created this JustGiving webpage for you to donate and we will do the buying for you. We will endeavour to buy a cream with minimal fragrance or colour. The choice of brand will partly depend on availability but popular ones are: Aveeno, Neutrogena, CeraVe.

We will make sure the cream reaches local care homes ensuring strict hygiene rules are kept to. We’ll put a nice thank you note in with every hand cream delivery. If you know someone who lives or works in a local home, we’d love to know.

Thank you. And here’s to healthier better times.
