This year my employers (Kane Group) have arranged for spaces in the Belfast Marathon, for anyone wishing to run as part of a relay team, or to compete in the full marathon. I have made the decision to run the full marathon and to raise some money for charities close to my heart.

I have chosen the Carcullion Gateway Club and Southern Area Hospice as my fundraising charities.

As most people will know, my brother Brian attends the Gateway Club on a weekly basis and this would not be possible without the tireless work of the club volunteers, who are invaluable to ensuring the club can run, year on year. And for everyone, the Southern Area Hospice has been a terrific aid to many families who have had loved ones suffering, some of those people being relatives of mine.

I look forward to being able to do my bit to give something back.
