I am a massage therapist/reflexoligist who wants to provide cancer patients with treatments to help alleviate their pain/stress but I am not qualified to deal with cancer patients. I know at least five people who have cancer/recovering from cancer. The radiation/chemo that stops or slows the cancer leaves them burnt out, weary and scarred physically and mentally. All this while trying to deal with normal everyday life.....some single with kids, mounting debts through inability to work, no social life, feeling exhausted, hair loss, feeling un-attractive, being stared at, feeling scared and worried for themselves and their families, depression, feeling sick, not eating/sleeping well, travelling long distances to and fro (sometimes on their own) for treatments, endless doctor and hospital appiontments, depending on family and friends to provide childminding, school runs, after school classes, missing their kids. Having to cook, clean, homeworks etc while having to be brave, strong and cope......It just becomes too much. Even in remission and recovery the damage left behind in their bodies while still having to run to doctors and hospitals when it should all be over. Cancer patients really need spa treatments just as much as anyone else if not more so.The knock on effect it can also have on their families too seeing the afflicted person looking relaxed, refreshed and invigorated would do wonders for them too. It would alleviate stress and worry for all. For the first time ever there is now a spa (Co. Down)who have had a few of their staff specially trained to deal with cancer patients. They were disappointed that they had to repeatedly turn away cancer patients because of their lack of training. They realised how important it is for cancer patients to have access to the same treatments and therapies as everyone else and that they should not be made to feel excluded because of their disease. Plz help raise funds to make some-one feel special this Christmas.
