Story
Here at 315 Norwich Road we have 6 residents living in supported accomdation. Currently the only communal space they have is the garden. However during the winter months, it becomes difficult for the guys here to socialise together as a group as there is no where to go except within their flats. Socialization produces feelings of happiness, reduces stress, anxiety and depression and even improves cognitive function, quality of life and longevity.
We are hoping to raise some money to put a caravan into the garden so there is a well kept communal space that can be used all year round for social gatherings and fun things like sleepovers! We are also hoping to update the garden, buying raised beds so all residents even those who may struggle to get onto the floor can help maintain the garden space, a community project, looking after flowers and the vegetables we hope to grow. This then brings the residents together and could also mean they learn a new skill, encouraging participation and social engagement. This also gives everyone a sense of achievement and a goal they can work towards.
We are hoping to raise £400 by July to give the residents something to look forward too so they can start this project through the summer months.
