I've raised £500 to fund Norwich Swift Network to help Swift colonies in the city by raising awareness, & through purchase & installation of nest boxes/bricks.

Story

Since 2021 we have managed to help install almost 90 boxes, thank you, but this is not fast enough! I am working with schools, local business, churches and Norfolk Wildlife Trust Wilder Community programme to make "Swift streets". Could your local community get involved with supporting these amazing birds?

Swifts visit us every summer, but we only have half the number coming now. Their population decline is mainly because they are finding it hard to access nest sites. They prefer to nest under a tile of a roof but new and modernised houses are designed so they can't get in. Putting up boxes or installing nest bricks have proved successful alternatives. If we lost Swifts from our summer skies, we would surely miss their amazing 'screams' of joy. To me it sounds like old friends meeting up, when they return back to their favourite street of the city. I hope you will support the Norwich Swift Network in helping these birds.

Please email nswiftnetwork@gmail.com for more information or if you can help the network in other ways, especially if you can help with local box installations.

Thank you!
