I've raised £200 to help fund a new Art Space in Mill Street, Guernsey

‘Art is good for your mental health’
Following my most recent art project ‘Notes to Islanders’ (a series of 10 life affirming signs which were dotted around St Peter Port, Chaos, Sark Summer Festival, the Scarecrow Festival in Torteval and soon the Vale Earth Fair to help raise mental health awareness in Guernsey) I have decided to open a ‘Notes to Islanders’ art shop/gallery.
Having recently moved back to the Island from London looking for a space to produce my art work has been very difficult.
As a Champion for Guernsey Mind I can’t begin to tell you how important the Arts are for Mental Health Well-being.
My friend pointed out this shop to me. I have met with the Landlord and his partner and they seem like a genuine/easy-going couple. I have signed the lease, however I need some extra help. The rent is £90 p/w and the lease is for a year. I have applied for a few part time jobs and I am looking to go back to working in Mental Health Care as a Bank Nursing Auxilary. I am in need of some extra help financially to get me started.
This shop would be perfect to be able to produce my art work and for passers by to be able to see the process of painting. I could also use the space as a gallery to hold monthly exhibitions and hopefully bring back art street parties to Mill Street. I would like to run relaxed, inspiring art classes for anyone who feels they need to set their creative side free.
It has always been my dream to run an art space in Guernsey- ideally Mill Street- and now this opportunity has arisen I just need your help to get me on the first step of this journey and ultimately give Islanders the chance to express themselves more easily.
