    Story

    NOTT ALONE IN NOTTINGHAM

People who are homeless are not social inadequates. They are people without homes. Sheila McKechnie

Homelessness. It's right outside your window, by your local grocery shop entrance, around the corners you walk by quickly to avoid eye-contact and the feelings of guilt you shouldn't feel because it's not your fault right?

Last year, during my first semester, as I walked the streets in the city centre and around Nottingham, I came across homeless people countless times. I've realized that because it's a common sight, it seems that we've now become accustomed to it. These are people, people that have a right to protection, shelter, love, and now during the winter time, the right to at least be able to stay warm. So I want to start this year off differently - by looking at others that are in need and letting this empathy drive me into action.

The donations will go towards a winter care package that consists of a blanket, a pair of thermal gloves, a thermal beanie, socks and wipes for hygiene purposes. It may not seem like much but you'd be surprised at how much of a great help it will be. Each package sums up to £10, and the goal is to raise £500 to help 50 people.

I want to extend this to anyone else who wants to help, donate and share this so that others can as well, to reach this goal. Any amount you give will be much appreciated. More than the amount, the heart behind it, is what's most important. Let's put our hands together to help a few more people stay warmer this winter. Let's remind them that they are Nott Alone in Nottingham.

PS. Donations are restricted to the UK

    Thank You
