St Martin's Church and the community of Sherwood have set up Nourish Sherwood, a weekly provision of free, freshly prepared food for those who, for whatever reason, need some help at the moment. We are providing take away homemade hot meals, homemade cake and apple or orange every Monday at St Martin's Church Trevose Gardens Sherwood NG5 3FU between 3pm to 4.15pm. All staff are volunteers and no monies will be used for anything other than food and packaging and equipment. If you would like to be part of this service to our community then please donate money, however little to support the people of Sherwood.

A brief history so far of Nourish Sherwood Just Giving and an update for all.

The total amount raised from November 2020 to September 2021 has been £4,148, that is an amazing figure Sherwood and we are so very thankful for all of those who have given in many different ways, this could not have been done without you.

We had to purchase some equipment to enable the prep and cooking to be more efficient and from the 22 meals given out in November to the 112 meals given out last Monday, I can tell you that this equipment has been an absolute game changer!

Each meal costs Nourish between £1.40 - £2.00, depending on what we are cooking that week. Most of the meat is purchased from Tuxford's Butchers in Netherfield and is absolute quality, a little more pricey, but worth every penny. The fruit and vegetables are purchased from John Kerry's, Nottingham, a well loved and established (130 years!) greengrocer. Our aim was to give good quality, wholesome and fresh food, I think we have accomplished this as many recipients have testified over the weeks.

The need, not just in Sherwood, but throughout the world is immense and it is a privilege to be working alongside so many Sherwood folk to address some of these needs in our local area. Nourish will continue for the foreseeable future and for that reason we will keep encouraging our community to give in whatever way you can, wether it is money or time, all will be appreciated.
