In June 2024 we petitioned the government on www.change.org/helpthecarers and petitioned Kier Starmer to halt ny legal proceedings between the Department for Work and Pensions and Carers who had been overpaid carers allowance.

why did we do this?

Over 140,000 people were facing prosecution by the DWP and the Crown Prosecution Service, insisting that those that had been overpaid were knowingly committing fraud. We didnt agree, and neither did the over 50,000 people who signed the petition, but we did it.

On the 14th October, Kier Starmer announced that the legal action would stop pending a review, and since then, we have become a union.

Currently we have over 70 members who are committed to making change happen for unpaid carers, with your support we have raised the capital to apply for recognition by the Central Arbitration Committee.
