Story

Hello,

On the 8th September, I will be travelling to Tanzania as part of my Nurse Training. I will be completing a 4 week placement in total, working for 3 weeks in the Muhimbili National Hospital, in Dar es Salaam and also I'll be spending a week living with a local family in Kidodi which is a rural village, working in the small healthcare clinic there.

In my spare time I will be helping out at the local orphanage and school in Dar es salaam and Kidodi. I also hope to get involved in local feeding programs, women's health workshops and HIV testing clinics.

Resources in the major public hospital are ok, they are not well equipped but they have the basic equipment they need to get by. The rural village however is often desperate for medical equipment, down to the simple things like cannulas, gloves, tourniquets, gauze and alcohol gel.

I'd like to raise money to be able to buy the rural hospital some supplies whilst I'm there, buy toys, colouring pencils and treats for the children in the school and orphanage and assist in any way I can.

Im asking for donations however big or small, which will benefit the people I will be working with directly, I know they'll be very grateful.

Thank you,

Katie Benefer
