Weʼve raised £375 to train new Breastfeeding Peer Supporters

Funded on Sunday, 6th May 2018

    Story

We are raising money to fund the training of new Breastfeeding Peer Supporters in Gwynedd and Anglesey, North Wales.

Breastfeeding Peer Supporters are trained volunteers who give their time for free to support and encourage new mothers who want to breastfeed their babies. They visit baby groups, postnatal wards, and are active in the community. There are currently few Peer Supporters in Gwynedd and Anglesey, covering a large geographical area. Last year, the North Wales Breastfeeding Support Fund, together with many generous donators, successfully funded a course for 12 women to train as Peer Supporters. They are now qualified and giving much-needed support to mothers across Gwynedd and Anglesey.

We still desperately need more Peer Supporters; this year we are hoping to raise enough for 12 more to train in the local area to enable more new mothers to access this free support network – please help us!

Such a worthwhile initiative - I wouldn’t have persisted with the first few weeks of breastfeeding (the toughest bit!) if it hadn’t had been for some amazing support workers around me. Good luck! Xx
