Our fellow sisters are suffering. The shocking rise in violence against women during the pandemic and the global concern as many attempt to raise their voices, has reminded us that measures must be increased to protect and support women. The effects of COVID-19 are still ongoing and while debt relief initiatives work with the world's poorest countries, vulnerable society members are still unable to access daily food rations. In addition, a horrifying increase in domestic violence during the lockdown has left local refuges are running painfully low on supplies.

With the hope that our post-pandemic world will include a better future for every child, family and community, we believe it is a time where we must strive together with action. Therefore, NwSoroptimist is holding a virtual quiz and fundraising to answer the desperate cries for help in our community.

Though money raised, we aid the increase investment in online services and civil society organisations, creation of safe ways for women to seek support without alerting abusers, declaration of shelters as essential services and the plan to scale-up public awareness campaigns, particularly those targeted at men and boys.
