Story

The Innowalk Pro is a motorised training device which allows the user to change their position by safely and comfortably from sitting to standing to moving. Using the Innowalk gives users the chance to experience assisted, guided and repetitive movement in an upright or semi-upright position as well as a leg pattern which is similar to typical walking.

Oaklands School has been lucky enough to be given two Innowalk Pros for a four week trial. 20 pupils with complex and severe disabilities, who normally don't have any or very little active mobility, have now been able to experience weight bearing and walking in a safe and supported position. This amazing equipment has already had very positive results:-

-Improvement of joint mobility and muscle strength

-Improved cardio vascular function

-Increased tolerance of a standing position

-Improved general well being and sleep.

Jack, who has Cerebal Palsy and uses a wheelchair for movement, can for the first time in his life compete with his brothers when they go for a run. Jack has recently "run" a cumulative distance of 7.7k...with a huge smile on his face!!

We would be delighted if you could get involved and help raise money for a really great cause #WalkTallWithOaklands. If we were to raise £35,000 all donations would go towards getting the equipment. Oaklands School would be the first school in Scotland to have an Innowalk Pro. It is an amazing piece of equipment that really would benefit our pupils. This would give them a chance to exercise on their own for the first time ever!
