Story

The Million Metre row - The Oarsome Challenge

This story starts with Tabby Wood, a 15 year old schoolgirl from Bradford. Tabby was diagnosed with cancer aged 13. For anyone a cancer diagnosis is shocking, but for a teenager it is particularly hard. Tabby is now well, but determined to help other children who are going the difficulty of a cancer diagnosis and treatment like she did.

Tabbys, her dad and her brother, Ben, cycled from London to Leeds last summer - raising over £22,000 for the teenage cancer ward at Leeds Infirmary and cancer charities.

Tabby is determined to do more - with her friends at the rowing club, they have devised the Million Metre Row - The Oarsome Challenge.

This is an indoor rowing challenge to row 1000,000 metres, over 620 miles, or further than Lands End to John O'groats. Tabs knows only too well what a difference little things make to the day to day survival in the hospital, and want to help with games and crafts for the children, help for families who are staying with their children from long distances, and raise money to go towards a TV screen in the MRI machine, for children having a two hour scan is hard to bear, and a film really helps, but the TVs are very specialist.

If I can make a posotive difference to somebodys life then that is amazing! - Tabs
