I've raised £6000 to provide live webcam streams of Oban bay for virtual visitors to enjoy whilst Scotland is in lockdown. 1st camera replaced, 2nd now needed.

Oban is a small but vibrant town on the west coast of Scotland. It's famous for its iconic ruins - Dunollie Castle and McCaig's Tower - its distillery and Oban Malt whisky and fantastic, mouthwatering seafood and shellfish. It's known as the Seafood Capital of Scotland and its busy harbour is home to fishing boats and life-line ferries to the remote Inner and Outer Hebridean islands. All of these wonderful sights are enjoyed by online visitors who currently cannot come in person as our tourism industry is in lock down and ferry travel is restricted to key workers and residents who are on essential journeys.
During the last lockdown we raised enough money to replace the oldest of our two webcams on North Pier and virtual visitors can now enjoy pin-sharp images of the bay. The second town webcam is situated on the Northern Lighthouse Board Pier and we're now fundraising to replace this camera so we can give the same high quality views back across the bay.
If you love these views (and we know many of you do) please give something towards a second replacement webcam. It would be greatly appreciated and will allow us to keep sharing our wonderful town with guests from around the world. We'd love to welcome you all in person but for now the message is stay safe and stay home so please enjoy Oban online and give generously. If you've given previously and now see the benefits in the improved clarity and focus on the new camera we hope you will give again. Every little bit helps. With tourism and hospitality businesses closed we're reliant on fundraising to help up promote our destination to the wider world.
