I'm raising £24000 to Fund OBAs Gallery, an Educational Arts Centre based on the borders of Hackney & Shoreditch, specialising in promoting vibrant African art.

My name is Dr.(hons) Jennifer obaseki, I originate from Edo state Nigeria
It is my dream to create Obas Gallery - a place for Observing the Best of Africa . I come from a culture rich in Art and History and want to make African this accessible to everyone in the local cosmopolitan community. Most especial I want to show people the rich culture. I believe integration is important. Obas Gallery (Kings Gallery) will be a place to teach history and traditional artistic technics , so they are appreciated, valued and not lost to the next generation. It will also be a place for local and international artists to spot light thier talent. Most importantly we would like to give back to the local community and at grass root levels by using some profits to support NGOs that helping with integration, prevention of modern day slavery and trafficking.
I have secured a location that is rich in history an Old spice wharehouse with high ceilings crying for canvases and sculptures with extra space for a number of activities. Queen Nefateri , Micheal Emeka ,Dr Vivian Timothy and Godfrey Williams-Okorodus Mary Obaseki are just a few of the artists we will be spotlighting.
Apart from Exhibitions and Auctions, we will hold work shops for dance, painting, sculpture , fashion and languages. African dance is commonly known as a way to express and celebrate cultures in an active and unifying way. Dance from North, East, South, West and Central Africa would be available for all to enjoy and experience but also a great form of exercise

Languages- In Africa, there are almost 2000 languages spoken , these are treasured by our ancestors and also lost and not appreciated by some of todays youth. Teaching languages spoken in the local community will encourage better understanding, integration, respect and value for the beautiful culture .
Painting - We will offer attendees of all ages the chance to become a artist, whether you’ve dabbled with art or you’re an absolute beginner or want advise from established professionals. You will be given the chance to express yourself with quality teaching from professional artists at a reasonable price.
