Over the last year, Odins quality of life has been badly afflicted leaving him suffering from:

🦋Full Body Tremors, (these look and are akin to watching someone having an epeleptic fit)

🦋States of full body catatonia (falling over and unable to move).

🦋Loss of power over limbs

🦋Severe Copralalia (unintended swearing and socially inappropriate gestures and insults),

🦋Hundreds into thousands, of vocal and motor tics, which are exhausting but also, have been limiting his ability to attend school, missing most of 6 months of his education recently.

🦋An inability to sit or sit still in a chair for any reasonable amount of time, this includes transport

A therapy dog is trained to be on alert when they sense their master needs support as they can smell the dopamine release in the brain. Tourette’s is caused by levels of Dopamine and a therapy dog can benefit humans with TS and ASD by:

🐶warning their master that a tic attack is about to happen in order to keep them safe

🐶ensuring their master is aware of an onset to allow them to take time and space to “let out”

🐶prevent escalation of tic attacks and autism sensory attacks...... This happens through sensory input at the beginning of an escalation as dogs sense it and sooth via petting, hugging and deep pressure; both TS and ASD are affected by sensory issues. A therapy dog can prevent escalation

🐶 in the case of catatonic falls the dog would provide sensory input via licking and lying on him to help him recover

🐶reduce anxiety attacks

🐶improve independence and comfort him socially

🐶reduce anxiety and provide companionship

We are exhausting medicinal routes, having found recently that many medications don’t work for him. A referral is now being made for Great Ormand Street Hospital, as his condition has been so severe.

We have also found recently through his therapist that due to the complexity of his conditions, stress, anxiety and sensory issues is a major contributor to Odin’s full attacks and set each other off into a cycle of attacks which leaves him completely debilitated. Therefore the breed and assuring of the purity of the breed line and and s calming character and gentle nature is very important.

We have set a target of £7000, after much research a cockapoo breed is recommended for children with autism and would also be the perfect fit in our home. These breeds cost £3000 and the specific training has a cost of around 2-4K, we also would have transport costings living in Jersey.

Any monies remaining would be used on Odins musical therapy and specific Tourette’s Therapies 🦋
