Support Czech Children in Ukraine

We are raising funds for the Czech National Council of Ukraine, which brings together 20 Czech compatriot associations across Ukraine. Around five of these associations are currently located in occupied territories. Despite the ongoing war, they continue their activities with remarkable courage — preserving and protecting Czech identity, culture, and the Czech language.

For the past four years, we have been working closely with the Council and its chairwoman, Ludmila Čiževska, who even visited us in London last year. Together, we provide both financial and material support. We have sent Czech textbooks and children’s books, and we continue to help wherever it is most needed.

The Czech language remains a vital link to heritage and hope. Thanks to support from the Czech National Agency for International Education and Research, a Czech language teacher currently teaches online classes to around 250 children and adults across Ukraine. These lessons are not just about grammar; they are about belonging, identity, and connection.

What will the funds support?

The money raised will go directly towards activities for children learning Czech. Our main (but not only) goal is to support a summer camp in the Czech Republic.

This camp is essential not only for developing the children’s Czech language skills, but also for their emotional and mental well-being. It will give children something they desperately need - a chance to have a rest from war.

Every child in Ukraine is affected by the war. Not only those living in occupied areas, but all children across the country live with daily sirens, shelters, fear, and uncertainty. Many have fathers serving on the front lines, some so proud of their Czech roots that their military nickname is “Čech.”

We want to give these children a safe space, even if just for a short time. A space without sirens. Without bomb shelters. Without constant fear. A space where they can simply be children again.

We believe every child has the right to a safe childhood.

If we can help create even a small moment of safety, joy, and hope — we will.

Thank you for standing with us and supporting children in Ukraine.

Watch children in Ukraine with Czech heritage sing Czech songs and recite Czech poems.
