Weʼve raised £1,018 to help deliver meals to University College London Hospital
- Funded on Wednesday, 30th June 2021

Story
We've all read how overstretched the NHS is. And while we can't make vaccines or care for COVID patients, we hope our food will be able to put a smile on the faces on frontline staff after a long day. But we need your help to do this sustainably and consistently.
How you can help
For every £5 that you donate, Old Chang Kee will top this up to a £10 meal for NHS staff at our nearest hospital - University College London Hospital (UCLH) in Euston. The hospital is part of our local community, and is one of the most over-stretched trusts in London.
If you're wondering what typical £10 meal looks like, that's a comforting hot meal box of rice and curry, plus a curry puff or other fried snacks.
So £5 gets you one meal, £10 two meals and so on.
How we'll do it
We've set a fundraising target of £1,000, which will help us deliver meals to 100 staff. But we've split this into four milestones of £250 so we can get going as soon as we can. Once we hit the first £250 we will be able to send out the first 50 meals. We've also taken on board feedback from the hospital that they'd prefer smaller, more frequent deliveries to sustain the marathon that they are in.
If there's more demand after the first £1,000 we'll keep going.
How we'll make ourselves accountable
We have organised this directly with someone we know at UCLH (through a customer in fact!). if you'd like to verify that this appeal is legitimate, please write to Dr Melanie Tan at melanietan@nhs.net.
All funds donated will go into a dedicated bank account.
We will update our social media channels whenever we make a delivery. And if you leave your contact details through this Just Giving page, we'll add you to a mailing list set up specifically for this cause, where you'll receive updates as well.

3 years agoThank you to all who donated, we hit our target and delivered 200 meals to our friends at the hospital. We'll be putting this on a hiatus for now, as we decide on next steps. BIG THANK YOU TO ALL OF YOU WHO MADE THIS POSSIBLE.

3 years agoIf you've donated, please do read this message from Dr Melanie Tan who helped us coordinate this effort. We're not a big business but we managed to make a small contribution that was appreciated. Thank you for helping us help others. * Now, we set out to feed 200 people and are a little short of donations to hit the target. We're now at a very lucky £888 and need to get to £1,000. If you can help please do!
