I've raised £500 to raise money for both Amersham Youth Activities and Cancer Research UK

I did the Swim Serpentine in 2016 and swore never to do it again, and I'm sure I say the same about the Shine Walk every year (2018 being my fourth year). But this time I'm doing them both in one day!
Shine Walk is organised by Cancer Research UK, Swim Serpentine is open to whichever charity you want, so I'm splitting all donations between two charities - CRUK and Amersham Youth Activities.
Amersham Youth Activities now run the majority of youth provision in Amersham, which I am currently involved with and obviously used to be heavily involved with the youth work in Amersham when I ran the youth centre. Youth work is close to my heart but especially this group, its run by a group of volunteers who have no funding and makes a difference to a really great bunch of young people.
Cancer Research UK is a charity who sadly have probably been involved with most of us. From uncle Euan to Stella and many more, I have loved and lost too many people to cancer, so the more we can give to them, the greater the chance of helping more people.
My target time for the swim is less than one hour, and preferably swimming rather than drown avoidance this time! For the marathon, year 1 I did it in 11h30, year 3 I did it in 8h40, sub 9 hour would be grand after the swim!
