I've raised £1000 to support the Jordan Legacy in helping us all move toward a Zero Suicide society through their #HopeForLifeUK initiatives.

On 23th June 2023, I will be running the Hamburg Half Marathon (13.1 miles) to raise money for the Jordan Legacy, a charity which exists to provide active solutions to prevent the practical act of suicide.
Globally, more people die by suicide every year than from cancer, heart disease, and diabetes combined. 2019 World Health Organization (WHO) data counted more than 800,000 suicide deaths (one every 40 seconds). Research suggests that most people who attempt to take their own lives do not want to die, they simply want to escape the intense mental or physical pain that they are suffering.
After watching Steve Phillip (Founder of The The Jordan Legacy) being interviewed on BBC News in 2022, I have felt compelled to support such an important cause and mission. Steve lost his only son Jordan to suicide in December 2019, and has since worked towards building a zero suicide society. Every suicide has a traumatic impact on family members, friends, colleagues and neighbours. In this knowledge (and coupled with my own experience of mental health) I am honoured to be running the Hamburg Half Marathon in support of the The Jordan Legacy.
Some of the ways the funds may be used include: - 1) Delivering talks and working on joint community projects to help prevent suicides 2) Sponsoring the Jordan Legacy's online educational suicide prevention events 3) The development of a national database highlighting best practice in suicide awareness and prevention 4) Sponsoring the annual Hope for Life Conference and Awards event 5) Helping to subsidise the cost of therapy or counselling for someone who is unable to fund such services but is in urgent need of help
Your donation could contribute to saving a life - That is priceless!
Thank you very much for your support.
