Story

Hi everyone

We are raising money for our local branch of the children's charity, Barnardo's, who currently provide an Independent Visitor service to young people in our area.

An Independent Visitor is a volunteer who spends their own time with a child or young person in the care system. All volunteers are completely independent of foster carers or social carers, and are provided to get to know, support and develop a young person through fun activities.

We met each other through the scheme, and for the last year we have been meeting up every couple of weeks to do something fun like trampolining, climbing, cinema, golf, or even just kicking a football around at the park. We've even done some boring stuff like exam revision together.

To say thank you to our local branch of Barnardo's, and to help towards other young people in the area and in the care system to receive support and similar services in the future, we have decided to challenge ourselves to a 10 mile mud and obstacle run. We have funded the run ourselves and all monies raised will all be donated to Barnardo's.

The run is in July and we have plenty of training to do, not least for the distance of 10 miles but also for the obstacles. It's fair to say it will be a real challenge for the two of us - especially Oli if his performances on the football pitch are anything to go by.

If you would like to sponsor us for this event we would be very grateful, as will our local office of Barnardo’s and all the young people that receive support from them at the present time or in future.

We will keep this page up to date so that you can see the state of us when we have finished the run so be sure to check back.

Thank you for reading our page.
