Story
Sarah here 🙋🏻♀️ me and the girls in the salon (Ellava Hair & Beauty, Hawick) are doing a colour run in March to raise money in memory of a very special little boy. My best friends very tragically lost their little boy Oliver Ian Wright in October 2018 at just 6 months old. Oliver died from a condition called LCH. This is extremely rare to be found in babies (1 in 2 million) Natalie and Sean spent some time in the BGH while waiting for a diagnosis for their little boy and they have decided to try and make something positive come from such a negative tragedy. They have decided to create a ‘Home from Home’ in memory of Oliver. They‘re putting a lot of work into setting this up already which is amazing! This will be a separate building for the families with babies and children staying in the BGH. With the BGH being 18 miles away from home and neither Natalie or Sean driving it was just another thing to have to deal with getting back and forth when needed. Although there are camp beds in the hospital, it was very cramped and was quite stressful. A ‘Home from Home’ would create a comfortable place for parents to stay and get some much needed rest when they can. These facilities are available in Edinburgh Sick Kids and Glasgow Sick Kids. This gives parents some small relief during a truly horrific time. Natalie and Sean are looking to set up a charity in Oliver’s name and this is the first thing they’re looking to do. If anyone can make any donation no matter how small it would be greatly appreciated to put towards the first project going forward. I am so proud of Natalie and Sean and I know how proud Oliver is of them watching over them. The strength they show daily is a credit to themselves and Oliver and hopefully we can raise some money to kick start their funds for creating the ‘Home from Home’ in Oliver’s name at the BGH ❤️ Thank you so much X
