I've raised £5000 to send me to Korea, to represent the UK as part of the UK Contingent at the World Scout Jamboree in 2023!!

**June Update**
Wow- What a few months I've had!
I am so very very grateful to everyone for all of the wonderful support, and all of the opportunities that people are providing.
My parents keep telling me I'm learning 'skills for life' through this... I guess I don't really know what that means at this point but I hope they're right! I've met with so many new people, made some new friends and my confidence is building every day. I've taken part in community events, washed cars, marshalled at sports events, baked, pedalled, sold, and have even sat in the boardroom with big companies!
My current focus is on selling raffle tickets, getting people to be involved in the Great Dorset Bike Ride (www.gdbr.org), and finding some really cool people to attend my very own summer fete (Super-Scout Saturday!)
My email address is poolewsj@gmail.com. I love hearing from all of you and am very open to new ideas and the chance to do more
**April Update**
Huge thanks to everyone for their sponsorship so far. I'm extremely grateful for all of the support and the well-wishes that come with it!
Also congratulations and thanks to Dad- who completed his first half marathon last week in just 1:55:53. An incredible achievement. It also helped raise a lot of additional sponsorship which both Dad and I are again very grateful for.
Alongside volunteering and regular fundraising activities, I am also planning some headline events in the run-up to Korea.
I am super excited to announce that this summer I'll be taking on the Great Dorset Bike Ride as part of my fundraising journey for the WSJ!🚴
The Route is ready, covering approximately 71 miles, and calling at Bridport, Dorchester, Wool, Wareham, Wimborne, Broadstone, Lilliput, 1st Hamworthy Scout Group, Bournemouth and Christchurch!
I have never done anything like this before, so am now going to be putting a lot of time into training for this event!
**March Update**
I've updated my fundraising page for March... My Dad asked me how I thought he could help to raise more money, so I suggested he ran a marathon!
My Dad only started running at the end of last Summer, but he has as now signed up for the Bournemouth Bay Run (Half Marathon) to help me hit my target!
Please sponsor my Dad on his incredible journey, and by doing so help to send me on mine!
Thanks, Oli
I am one of the young people that have been selected from the UK to join 50,000 young people taking part in the World Scout Jamboree. The Jamboree is a skills, cultural and adventure festival happening in sensational and scenic South Korea. In the summer of 2023. I will be meeting thousands of Scouts from nearly every country in the world – sharing our skills. This will be the first time that so many young people from so many different nations will be gathering together since the Covid-19 pandemic began.
The World Scout Jamboree offers young people the chance to learn new skills that we can use in other aspects of our life as well as campaign for change on key world issues that matter to us.
Despite being the birthplace of the Scout movement, only 4 scouts from Poole have been selected to attend, with only 16 applying to attend the initial selection weekend camp in November 2021. I think that more would apply if they felt more confident about being able to pay for the trip- with each scout needing to raise £3750 to attend!
The aim of our group from Poole would be to not only reach our individual target but push on through this target and leave a fund that can be handed over to the scouts attending the next world scout Jamboree in 2027!
