What is crowdfunding?

Crowdfunding is a new type of fundraising where you can raise funds for your own personal cause, even if you're not a registered nonprofit.

The page owner is responsible for the distribution of funds raised.

Oliver Stephenson is a 4 year old boy living in Ackworth with his mum Laura, dad James and brother Alfie who is 2. On the 16th January following blood tests Oliver was diagnosed as having Neuroblastoma a childhood cancer. He has a tumour on his kidney and the cancer had spread to his bone marrow, skull and eye sockets. Oliver began chemotherapy on Saturday 18th January at the fantastic LGI where he is receiving round the clock care from doctors, nurses and various different charities on the ward. Oliver has a long road ahead of him along with his mum, dad and little Alfie. They have amazing support and offers of help from family and friends which they very much appreciate.

When I first asked about setting up this page they didn’t feel that it was necessary as at the moment they are managing fine with their finances but on reflection have agreed to this page being set up to raise funds for if they need it down the line to cover living expenses and travel costs etc or god forbid if Oliver needed further none NHS treatment. This is now unfortunately extremely likely and hence why the target has been raised for treatment that he is likely to need in America called the Bivalent Vaccine once he has received all the treatment that he needs from the NHS. It is too early in Oliver's current treatment plan to sign up for this due to Oliver still receiving chemotherapy but due to the colossal amount needed we are giving ourselves the most time to raise the money for when it will likely be needed. Laura and James also realise that people want to help in any way they can and this is one way of doing that.
Any money raised that isn't needed for Oliver's care they would like to donate to another family in a similar position to them that do need it or to the various charities that will help them along the way.

Please give whatever you can afford as I’m sure this money will be put towards making people’s lives just a little easier.

What a big week this is setting out to be! Oliver has to go through so much including a bone marrow biopsy, meeting the radiotherapy team, a radioactive injection, a MIBG scan and an MRI scan for which we are hoping for good news next week! And today we have just reached our target of £230,000!!!! This target is only an estimated amount needed and we will know better once Oliver is signed up for the vaccine! On top of this we have to cover the Just Giving fees which we estimate to be around £9,000 so please continue to donate where you can!

Wow! What can I say about the last month? We have over 10000 members on Oliver’s Journey to Beat Neuroblastoma FB page and fast approaching £154k, 2/3 of the way to target! Oliver’s story has been live on the BBC, two songs dedicated to him from Marti Pellow, a mural painted as the superhero he is and appeared in several national and local newspapers! Oliver has had a tough month being in hospital with only his dad undergoing high dose chemo and a stem cell transplant, while his mum and little brother have had to stay away due to CV - 19 😢

Wow! We have reached 27% of our target already in a little over 2 months! We can't thank everyone enough for this! Oliver is doing absolutely amazing with his treatment and is just completing the last round of Chemo in this first cycle. His big scan to assess his progress is next week and i'm sure we will all have him in our thoughts that everything is progressing as it should! Thank you from the bottom of our hearts to everyone that has liked, shared and donated so far. If you could please continue to do so it would be very much appreciated!
