Weʼve raised £9,544 to design and install a stained glass window in St Michael and All Angels church in Efenechtyd in memory of Olivia Alkir

Funded on Wednesday, 16th February 2022

    Story

Olivia was tragically killed in a car crash in 2019 and the two young men responsible for her death were convicted of causing death by dangerous driving. Her future was stolen from her but she will live on in the hearts of everyone who knew her.

St Michaels Church in Efenechtyd has become a place where the loved ones of our daughter Olivia Alkir come to remember her so we thought it would be a fitting tribute to feature her artwork in a new stained-glass window for people to enjoy for years to come.

Our goal is to raise £15,000 to cover the cost of this design work and installation and we will be updating the website with news of events on www.olivia-alkir.co.uk.

We feel that this memorial window for Olivia will keep her memory alive in the community forever.

Olivia's death was totally avoidable and hopefully this memorial window can be a reminder of safer driving for young people.

Any donation to help us reach our goal will be much appreciated.

Work has not yet begun on the stained glass window but the artist has created images to show how it will look in place.

Update February 2022 - Target reached

Mesut and I would like to thank everyone who has donated and helped us raise the funds for Olivia’s Window. We are so grateful to all those who raised money, including Hill and Roberts accountants with their Christmas cards, Ruthin Festival, Rhos street and Brynhyfryd Schools, Sally Smith and all the raffle donors, the Truck Convoy, Stephen Beach and the Lodges, Boxing day Swimmers, Water Co, Lowri and the afternoon tea, Charles Henshaw, Shamy Parker’s raffle on a Liverpool night out with the ladies, Awen Roche and her doodles, Anne Roberts birthday donation and Aydin’s Fish and Chips.

It was a real community effort and your support has helped us get through a difficult two years.

Donations (made here and offline) have now reached our target and plans are going ahead to create the window. Updates will be added to our website with progress and details of the unveiling.

There are so many people to thank and we hope we’ve managed to let you all know how grateful we are.
