    Story

    Olivia's Story
On December 18th 2016, our sweet little Olivia who is 2.5 years old was diagnosed with Stage 4 High Risk Neuroblastoma (Childhood cancer). Olivia is being treated at BC Children's Hospital in Vancouver, BC.

    Her Treatment
Her treatment consists of 6 rounds of aggresive chemotherapy, tumour resection, 2 stem cell transplants, radiation therapy and Maintenance therapy or Immunotherapy. She will continue for the next few years (at least), to go through more treatments to get her back to full health. This may include travelling to other facilities in different cities for specialized treatments and some of these treatments are only available in the US at this time.

    Our Situation
We (Isabelle and Scott) have been extremely lucky so far to have received help from our work places, they have given us time off as well as some financial support.

However, it is just the beginning of our journey and we will surely need some additional financial support to get us through this. The financial nburden we face will be to compensate for lost wages, travel and medical expences.

Adding to all of the things we need to manage with Olivia's care, she will be a big sister in May, 2017. Isabelle will be taking maternity leave for the coming year and Scott, to start, will be taking a 3 months off to be there fully for his family. This time will hard financially for our family and savings will be increasingly reduced.

    Our Goal
The hope is that we can raise some money to cover the high costs of a treatment in the US. This treatment is a trial which has shown positive results in reducing relapses in children with Neuroblastoma. Our estimated costs for participating in this trial would be about UK 100,000 Another added expense would be travel to other hospitals within Canada to receive treatment that are not available at BC Children's Hospital. The American treatment may eventually be available in Calgary, Alberta, Canada but is still pending approval from Health Canada.
