Myself along with 30 other students from The Weald Sixth Form, will be travelling to Kenya on Friday 21st July to Wednesday 9th August 2017, where we will build classrooms for schools that truly need it, in order to improve the quality of education for children in Kenya. The charity ‘Classrooms for Kenya’ is our school's charity that has been running for 10 years, and each year a group of year 12 students get the opportunity to go to Kenya, where we physically build the classrooms for schools. In some cases theses schools that i will visit don't have a classroom now, but working outside with a tree as shelter. This trip is an amazing opportunity, that is a once in a lifetime trip that will really make a visible difference to children who need it most, and allow me to discover a new culture, and personally completely take me out of my comfort zone.
The £300 is an amount that all students will need to raise for the charity ‘Classrooms for Kenya’, this £300 is used in order to pay building materials such as bricks and paint, to make the rooms themselves. The additional £2000 is the money that i need to raise in order to get myself out there to make a difference and build the classrooms. This money includes the fights, transport and accommodation for the 20 days i am out there for.
From now until i leave i will be doing many fundraising activities for the charity ‘Classrooms for Kenya’ and for myself in order to get myself out there. I can't explain enough how much i would appreciate any contribution for this amazing charity.
