Story

I'm hoping to raise £750 to enhance the care provided to children living with Haemophilia.

Haemophilia is a rare gentic blood clotting disorder caused by a genetic deficiency.

people with the condition may bleed more severely following injury or for a longer time. This is because the level of Factor VIII in the blood is too low to complete the clotting process. Bleeding may occur inside the body as well as from the skin – this can include bleeds inside the joints.

Ollie and Harry were both diagnosed at young ages and will need life-long monitoring and treatment.

As many of you will know both boys are football obsessed and for a long period remained well. However this year has been a rollercoaster and the boys have had their eyes opened too what life with Haemophilia is really like.

Ollie is due surgery any day and both have recently spent days in and out of the RVI for treatment with joint bleeds and bruising. The boys travel to the RVI with any concern and without fail, the staff are immediately there to provide exceptional care and go above and beyond! If it wasn't for the team of nurses, physios and consultants, we as a family would struggle massively.

Ollie particularly has missed out on alot of football for nearly a year and explaining to them why they have to be extra cautious at all times can be frustrating. As Harry once said 'all because of Haemophilia I have to be walked to first aid ALL the time mummy'.

The boys are yet to know as life moves forward their are going to be many more obstacles and restrictions such as job roles and sports. Harry wants nothing more than to be a soldier and fly army aeroplanes. We have yet found it in our hearts to break the news he can never join the army. BUT we still smash living everyday with Haemophilia because of the care and education provided from the team at the RVI.

To raise some money for the team. On the 30th November 2024 Jamie has decided to walk the national 3 peaks, which are the highest mountains in Scotland , England and Wales. He wanted to try and complete this in the winter over 24 hours depending on adverse weather conditions and we would be hugely greatful of all your support 🙏.
