I've raised £1000 to help fund a new play café for younger children in Beckenham

With the closure of many Baby Clinics and Sure Start centres there is a need for places where new parents and those with very young children can go and get support and reassurance with the many struggles of family life. Some playgroups in the area offer support and friendship, these run on various days in various locations but stop during holidays and are not able to offer café facilities. Although there are play cafes in the area, they are not really family centred – there is little or no encouragement for parents to interact with their little ones; there are no additional services offered and they are relatively expensive.
During the Summer Holidays we will be holding a pop-up version of the café in a local church hall, interest so far has been high and we are hoping the customers will follow to the permanent venue but first we need to find one and get into it.
We intend to offer multiple services at our site, thereby supporting the wider community for example – listening support, breastfeeding counselling, form filling help, first aid courses, language support and parenting classes and great place to meet other parents and carers over a really nice cup of coffee and a tasty lunch, for a reasonable price. With a multipurpose room onsite we can also offer meeting space, birthday parties and event hire
