As you may or may not be aware, our friend Olly Carpenter was sadly in an accident in New York this October and has been paralysed from the chest down. Olly is now back in the UK and recovering well. He is currently undergoing physiotherapy and the rehabilitation that will allow him to be independent. Given the expenses that this brings with it, we are keen to do what we can to help out our mate on his road to recovery and support him and his family. We are hoping that the man himself will able to make it down on the day to come and survey this footballing spectacle.
To mark our support for Olly, we have arranged this footballing feast to raise some money for his cause and perhaps provide you all with some entertainment to bring in the New Year. Bringing together a group comprising of family, friends from school, university and sports clubs, this is sure to be an all-star affair of low quality football.
So, what does the day involve? The details are as follows:
WHERE: Horsley Football Club
WHEN: New Year’s Eve
GATES OPEN: 12pm - there will be food and drink available from the start
KICK OFF: 1pm sharp
In addition to the match itself, there will be various food and drink options available inside a marquee, with beer and wine on offer and hot dogs and burgers on the menu. This marquee will also provide shelter for the spectators if the weather is poor on the day. After the match, there will be a drinks reception inside the clubhouse where an auction will be held, with some top-notch prizes up for grabs. Details of these will be released closer to the event.
As it is New Years Eve we expect that a lot of people will have plans in the evening with family and friends, which is why we have made it an early afternoon kick off. We hope that as many of you as possible can come down for a spot of lunch and terrible football.
Everyone is welcome.
