Story

9 days ago our family received the devastating news that Olly has Motor Neurone Disease.

Here is a little bit of info about our amazing Olly and why we have decided to set up this page: He is a 40 yr old dad with two gorgeous girls, Amelia aged 7 and cheeky little Willow aged 1. Along with his partner Emma, and dog, Lewis, they live in Newport, Essex. Olly is a Senior Artworker /Designer for Labelon UK and aside from being extremely artistic and creative he loves cars and anything techy! Up until 4 months ago he had been a perfectly fit and healthy family man, then he started to get weakness in his legs along with cramps, which led to him having falls. After many tests, neurologist, Dr Rhys Roberts, of Addenbrooke’s Hospital, sadly gave Olly the diagnosis of Motor Neurone Disease (MND).

MND causes messages from the motor neurones to gradually stop reaching the muscles. This leads the muscles to weaken, stiffen and waste. MND can affect how you walk, talk, eat, drink and breathe. Symptoms progress at varying speeds, which makes the course of this cruel disease difficult to predict.

MND is life-shortening and there is currently no cure. We hope Olly’s symptoms will be managed in order to help him achieve the best possible quality of life.

We aim to raise funds for the ongoing comfort and care of Olly. These needs will be ever changing and we would like to ensure both he and his lovely family can have quality time with each other, creating special memories without financial concerns. Most of all we would like to complete as many things on Olly’s bucket list as possible - from driving experiences to taking his girls to see Santa in Lapland.

We take on this task with our hearts full of love and positivity. We have been overwhelmed with messages of love and support from friends and family – all evidence of just how special Olly is. So if you feel you would like to help Olly to make the very best of this next phase of his life then please donate what you can.
